On the morning of June 20, the International Symposium on Modern Statistics and Financial Data Science and the Third Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics - Chonnam National University Joint Symposium, which was jointly sponsored by the University and Chonnam National University of Korea, was held at the University. Vice President Yuan Honglin received a delegation of scholars from Chonnam National University and other universities in Korea and warmly welcomed them. A number of experts and scholars from Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Chonnam National University of Korea, University of California, Davis, Victoria University of Wellington and many other universities attended the meeting.

Ping Wei-ying, Dean of the School of Statistics and Data Science, extended a warm welcome to the participants who came from afar. Ping Wei-ying briefly introduced the basic situation of the School of Statistics and Data Science to the participants, including rich educational resources, remarkable talent cultivation achievements and a strong academic atmosphere, which fully demonstrated the strengths and advantages of the School.

In the first half of the presentations, five experts and scholars, Jangsun Baek, Jiming Jiang, Jaesik Jeong, Kwangmin Lee, and Chuanquan Li, gave presentations titled Recent Developments in Model-Based Clustering, Pseudo-Bayesian Categorical Mixed Model Prediction, Multiple Checks for Unilateral Assumptions with Conservative Zeros, and Bayesian Inference for Multiple Probabilistic Test Models with Potential Envelopes. Pseudo-Bayesian categorical mixed model prediction, Multiple testing of one-sided hypotheses with conservative nulls, Bayesian inference for multivariate probabilistic testing models with potential envelope, Pseudo-Bayesian categorical mixed model prediction, Multivariate probabilistic testing models with non-convex kernels. Generalized Trajectory Regression with Both Nonconvex Kernel Paradigms and 2D Sample Lasso.

In the second half of the presentations, Mengjie Zhang, Juyeon Oh, Somi Cha, Zhuolin Liu, Sora Kang, Seunghyeon Kim, and Peiwen Xiao gave seven presentations on the topics of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Research and Application in VUW Assessing the impact of lifestyle and mental health on suicide rate through component regression analysis, Clustering of high-dimensional categorical data, Joint temporal convolutional network and BiLSTM Neural Networks for Interpretability of Heartbeat Classification Predicting Yield of Oriental Melon Using LSTM and ARIMA Algorithms Fast Laplace Variational Inference Method for Bayesian Envelope Modeling Distributed Inference for Quantile Regression Models Based on Stochastic Weighted Self-Help Methods.

During the conference, the participants carried out in-depth exchanges around their own scientific research results as well as the current latest academic achievements, which not only promoted the collision of academic ideas, but also provided valuable ideas and suggestions for future academic development, and promoted the innovation and progress of statistics and financial data science.
